    Finally, its our Christmas Break already. 2 weeks filled with Holiday cheer. I don't know. I just love the Holidays, the cold wind blowing my hair during the afternoon, and the early sunset. Also, don't forget about the Puto Bumbong which is the staple breakfast food of filipinos for 9 days, eaten after the traditional Misa de Gallo.

    However, even before Christmas, me and my friends devoted one day to spreading Christmas Cheer. We went to Asilo de San Vicente de Paul, an orphanage located in UN Avenue Manila. It was an outreach project of the seniors, and the class mayors. At first, we didn't know what to expect. I haven't had any experience regarding outreach projects, and to be frank, I was quite nervous.

    When we arrived, the sight of a very warmly Belen caught my eyes. It reminded me and my friends of the lobby of the roman hotel in the Lizie McGuire movie.[**,]

    Yes, It was that beautiful.

    However, the kids were lovelier than the belen. The sight of more than 20 children filled the room, and sang the "Welcome to the Family" song. That song hit a soft spot in me, not only because it was my graduation song back in prep school, but also because the one's singing were orphans. No father or mother, and they were welcoming us to their 'family'. I burst into tears, and felt really loved.

    There was this one girl who caught my eye,& turns out, my sister noticed her too. She was wearing a black dress with blue and pink ruffles. She had a sad face, and wasn't singing. It was then that we decided to do anything just to put a smile on that little girl's face. And thats what we were able to do.

    Her name was Niña. I don't know, but I felt really close to the little girl and her brother, Niño. So close that when it was time for us to leave, I couldn't help but cry and promise that we'd be back. When she ran back to us, and asked when, I knew that I would always come back to that warm orphanage. Maybe its not the place, but the feeling of happiness from making other people, or children happy, even just for a little while, especially during the Yuletide.
